Spring is one of the prettiest times of year in Kansas City, and I'd say a bit underrated for photos! Here are 10 examples of beautiful outdoor backdrops with spring blooms, taken from mid March to mid/end of April! It's a special opportunity for family photos in general, but especially maternity portraits, a milestone (sitter session, a birthday or just beautiful updated portraits of a little lady of yours!), and mother/daughter photos!

When the flowering trees and tulips begin to bloom can vary from year to year, so a good strategy is to either pick a date and be flexible with what is blooming at the time, or to have flexibility with the session date! Grass will be fresh and green, and often beautiful temps and weather for photos outside!

A note on tulips... lots of neighborhoods have seasonal plantings, often tulips in the spring! I have a few places I watch for tulips, we could also consider a spot that is close to where you live, if you notice one! The large tulip field, shown below, is a really unique option - it requires flexibility and we have to adhere to the farm's rules for photo sessions and pay a photography fee. This last row with mom, dad and newborn - I just found a few flowering trees in the neighborhood! So it's here as inspiration to consider your home or neighborhood if you have some beautiful trees that bloom in the Spring!
